About WanderWiki

Questions

FAQ

Is there a WikiTok app for iPhone?
The original WikiTok, built by Isaac Gemal in February 2025, is a web app at wikitok.io with no App Store version. In Safari you can add it to your Home Screen, where it opens like an app. Apps named WikiTok on the App Store come from other developers, and the project's README says it is not affiliated with them. If you want the swipe-through-Wikipedia idea as a native app, WanderWiki runs on iPhone and iPad.
What is a good WikiTok alternative for iPhone?
WanderWiki is the closest native alternative. It keeps WikiTok's core, a feed of random Wikipedia articles you move through with a swipe, and adds a For You mode built from topics you pick, Today in History from Wikipedia's On This Day feed, saved articles that open offline and sort into folders, read-aloud, and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. It has no ads and no account.
Is WikiTok free? Is WanderWiki free?
WikiTok is free and its code is open source under the MIT license. WanderWiki is free for 20 articles a day, covering Random and topic browsing, with saving and search included. WanderWiki Plus unlocks For You, Today in History and unlimited swiping for $1.99 a month, $8.99 a year, or $24.99 once.
Which Wikipedia languages do WikiTok and WanderWiki support?
WikiTok's language picker covers 41 Wikipedia editions, or 48 options if you count script and regional variants such as the Chinese ones. WanderWiki carries 32 editions. WikiTok covers more, including Bengali, Persian, Urdu, Esperanto and Basque, which WanderWiki does not have.
Can I read WikiTok articles offline?
No. WikiTok loads articles live from Wikipedia. Liked articles are kept in your browser's local storage as a title, short extract and link, and you can export them as a JSON file. WanderWiki stores the article itself when you save it, so it opens without a connection, and you can sort saves into folders.
Do WikiTok and WanderWiki use a recommendation algorithm?
WikiTok shows random articles, and its creator has said he turned down requests to add an algorithm. WanderWiki's Random mode is random too. Its For You mode uses only the topics you choose; likes, skips and reading time don't feed it. Neither keeps a reading profile on a server.
