Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to Tare.

Overview

Tare is a wordless balance logic puzzle for iPhone and iPad. Privacy here is not a setting you switch on — it is how the game is built. Tare has no account system, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising, and no networking code: the game never sends or receives anything itself. This policy explains exactly what Tare keeps on your device, what Apple handles when you choose to use its services, and what happens when you tap a link that leads outside the game.

Data Collection

Tare does not collect personal data.

Data Storage & Processing

Everything Tare records stays on your iPhone or iPad. For each level you have solved, it stores the level, the date you first solved it, and the best star grade you earned; for a level you left part-way, it stores where the pieces were so you can pick up where you stopped. If you buy the chapter unlock, it keeps a single record that Chapters II–IV are unlocked — no price, no date, and no receipt — so the chapter wall draws correctly when the game starts. Your settings (sound, haptics, hints, high contrast, and your chosen canvas) are saved in the game's local preferences. This is stored with Apple's SwiftData and UserDefaults on the device only. It is not uploaded, not synced to iCloud, and not shared with anyone, and deleting Tare removes it. If you have switched hints on and ask for one, the level you are playing remembers only that a hint was used, because a hint costs that attempt's third star; how many hints you ask for is never written down. How many levels you have solved in a session (used only to decide whether to show Apple's review prompt) exists in memory while the game is open and is gone when it closes.

Third-Party Services

Tare contains no third-party software of any kind — no analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs — and every framework it uses is Apple's. A few Apple services are involved only when you use them. If you buy the chapter unlock or restore it, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store under Apple's own privacy policy; Tare never sees your payment details or your Apple Account, and receives only Apple's confirmation that the unlock belongs to you. Family Sharing of that purchase is managed by Apple in the same way. After you finish certain chapters, Tare may ask iOS to show Apple's standard rating prompt; iOS decides whether it appears, and Tare learns nothing about what you do with it. Finally, a few rows in Settings lead outside the game: Share Tare opens the system share sheet with a plain link to Tare's App Store page (no tracking or referral code is added), Rate Tare opens the App Store's review page, Feedback opens your own mail app addressed to our support email (nothing is pre-filled and nothing is sent unless you write and send it yourself), Privacy opens this page in your browser, and Terms of use — also on the unlock screen — opens Apple's standard licence agreement. Once you leave the game through one of those links, that app or website's own privacy practices apply.

Health & Sensitive Data

Tare asks for no permissions at all. It does not access your camera, photos, microphone, location, contacts, calendars, or health data, and it collects no health, financial, or biometric information. There is no account to create, no email address to hand over, and no sign-in of any kind. To give the game board a gentle sense of depth, Tare reads your device's orientation from its motion sensor while the game is on screen. That reading is used live, on the device, to shift the background by a few points; it is never stored, never sent anywhere, and the sensor is switched off entirely when Tare is in the background or when Reduce Motion is turned on in your device settings.

Children’s Privacy

Tare is a wordless puzzle suitable for players of any age. It contains no advertising, no chat, no user-generated content, and no accounts, and because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. The one purchase is made through Apple, so parents can manage it with Ask to Buy, Family Sharing, and Screen Time. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or from anyone else.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time — for example, if a future version of Tare adds optional iCloud sync of your progress between your own devices. Any change will be published on this page before the version it describes is released, and this policy will always describe the version of Tare currently on the App Store.
