Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies specifically to Xiangqiful.

Overview
Xiangqiful is a xiangqi (Chinese chess) training app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Privacy here is not a setting you switch on — it is how the app is built. Xiangqiful has no account system, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising, and it contains no networking code of its own: the engine that plays and analyzes your games, Pikafish, runs entirely on your device. This policy explains exactly what Xiangqiful keeps on your device, what Apple handles when you choose to use its services, and what happens when you import, share or follow a link.
Data Collection
Xiangqiful does not collect personal data.
Data Storage & Processing
Everything Xiangqiful records stays on your device. That includes the games you play and import (the moves, the result, the opponent, your side and the date), the engine's analysis of them (move grades, evaluations and the mistakes it found), your lesson, drill and puzzle progress and the review schedule behind it, your skill-assessment results, your place on the opponent ladder, your skill profile, estimated rating, streaks and achievement progress, and your settings (piece set, characters, notation, board, sound and haptics). It also keeps the day's free-tier counters and a cached copy of your Premium status, so the app knows what you own when you are offline. All of this is stored with Apple's SwiftData and UserDefaults on the device only. It is not uploaded, not synced to iCloud, and not shared with anyone. If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, your Xiangqiful data may be included in that backup under your Apple settings — Apple acts as the storage provider and Xiangqiful has no access to it. Deleting the app removes the data from your device.
Third-Party Services
Xiangqiful contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs. The one piece of outside software in it is the open-source Pikafish engine, which is compiled into the app, runs on your device and makes no network connections. The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data types, no tracking and no tracking domains. Two optional Apple services involve Apple when you use them. Purchases — Premium and the optional tips — are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store under Apple's own privacy policy; Xiangqiful never sees your payment details or your Apple Account, and receives only Apple's confirmation of what you own. Game Center is used only if you are already signed in to it on your device, and Xiangqiful never asks you to sign in. When you are signed in, the app reports your scores to eight leaderboards (estimated rating, best game accuracy, accuracy this week, longest win streak, opponents defeated, training streak, puzzles solved and overall skill) and your progress on its 62 achievements. Apple processes these under its own privacy policy, and other players may see your leaderboard scores according to your Game Center settings. Signing out of Game Center in your device settings stops the reporting, and the app loses nothing, because it never reads anything back. When you import a game, Xiangqiful reads only the file you pick, or the clipboard only when you choose it as the source; when you share or copy a game record, it goes only where you send it. Finally, a few links open outside the app: the paywall links to this policy and to Apple's standard Terms of Use, the Licences screen links to the Pikafish project on GitHub, and Settings can open Apple's subscription management page. Once you follow one of them, that website's own privacy practices apply.
Health & Sensitive Data
Xiangqiful asks for no permissions. It does not access your camera, photos, microphone, location, contacts, calendars or health data, it sends no notifications, and it collects no health, financial or biometric information. There is no account to create, no email address to hand over, and no sign-in of any kind.
Children’s Privacy
Xiangqiful is intended for general audiences and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. It contains no advertising, no chat, no user-generated content and no accounts, and because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. Purchases go through Apple, so parents can manage them with Ask to Buy, Family Sharing and Screen Time. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time — for example, if a future version of Xiangqiful adds optional iCloud sync of your progress between your own devices. Any change will be published on this page before the version it describes is released, and this policy will always describe the version of Xiangqiful currently on the App Store.
