for people who are tired of the ads.
Search "2048" on the App Store and you'll get a wall of near-identical clones, most of them stuffed with banners, pre-roll video, and "watch an ad to continue." One disclosure up front: Zen 2048 is our app — we'll say so every time it appears, and we'll tell you when something else is the better pick.

Deeper one-on-one comparisons: Zen 2048 vs 2048 (Ketchapp) · vs Threes · vs the original · vs 2048 Cube Winner · vs Suika Game
One to be aware of: 2048 Cube Winner markets a "3D" look and prize rewards, but it's a fixed presentation wrapped in heavy rewarded-video ads and spin-to-win loops — a different experience from a calm, ad-free puzzle. If the 3D look is what pulled you in, Zen 2048 is the honest version of that idea.
The ads problem, answered honestly
If you've tried to find a clean 2048 on the App Store and given up, it wasn't you. 2048's rules were open-sourced in 2014, so the store filled with clones — and because the puzzle is simple and free to copy, almost all of them monetise the only way a copied game can: ads. Pre-roll video before a game, interstitials every few moves, lives you refill by watching, and reward loops bolted onto a number puzzle. The Ketchapp version is the cleanest of the mass-market free ones and still shows banners and interstitials; 2048 Cube Winner goes much further. Zen 2048 (ours) takes the opposite route: it's free with no ads at all and no tracking — funded only by optional designer themes and undo tokens you never need — and it adds the things ads crowd out, a real 3D board and 17 material themes. The design and engineering story is in our journal post on rebuilding 2048 in 3D. Whichever you pick: a number puzzle this small should never cost you a video ad per game.
